3 Local Economic Development Blogs Worth a Read

June 21, 2013Jennifer TrueBlog, Headline, Home CTAsNo Comments

Recently the Development Counsellors International ( DCI) asked via LinkedIn which EDC had the “Best Blog” and they compiled a list of their favorites, which we have found to be informative and timely, so we thought we would share some of the “blog loving” with some of our favorite “Massachusetts” blogs.

Urban Update: News, Events, and Announcements from the Urban Institute at UMASS Dartmouth

This is the new blog of the Urban Initiative at UMass Dartmouth which they established to share information and opportunities related to urban policy and its impacts on small industrial cities like Fall River and New Bedford. The blog is a mix of information about the initiative, current events, and commentary from their staff and interns. It is definitely worth a read.

Dennis Mass Economic Development Blog

What a refreshing site! The Dennis Mass Economic Development Blog maintained by the Dennis Planning Department does an incredible job of keeping residents and business owners up-to-date on current town demographics, commercial zoning opportunities, and even provides information about individual sites available for development and redevelopment.

Blog from the Office of the City Manager—Bernard F. Lynch, Lowell MA

Although the blog isn’t entirely focused on economic development per say, it is chalk filled with important economic development news and information. We really enjoyed the City Manager’s thoughts on Lowell’s effective use of historical redevelopment and the creative economy since the 1980’s. Creativity is alive and well in Lowell. Check it out.
